Jesus is our Cornerstone and the work of redemption is the cornerstone of our Christian faith. Without a proper and exact understanding of the work of redemption which Christ did, anything else we build on our faith will be on shaky ground at best. In this teaching, Pastor Akin begins walks us through the four parts of the work of redemption and their implications and applications for our faith.
We're starting the series today, and we will continue hopefully next week. The foundations of Jesus Christ. We want to remind ourselves some basic things about our faith. We want to remind ourselves some basic things about our faith that will give us confidence in our faith. Somebody say amen. Yes. It will give us confidence in our faith. You see, it'll give you confidence. It will give you confidence in approaching God. It will give you confidence in the place of prayer. And it will also give you confidence in witnessing to people. To give you confidence in witnessing to people. I don't want to assume that we all know we know everything that I'm going to be talking about. And even if you know everything, you know, the Apostle Paul said in the book of Philippians chapter 3, I think, that you see, it is not tedious for me to say what I've said to you again. It is not tedious for me, but for you it is safe. That is, I don't lose anything by repeating what I said to you. But uh it's not it's not tedious for me. I can do it again. In fact, that's repetition is a tool for teaching. Um, but it says for you it is safe. Somebody say amen. Alright. So um let's open our text. Our text is um 1 Corinthians chapter 3, 1 Corinthians chapter 3, verse 10 to 11. 1 Corinthians chapter 3, verse 10 to 11, and Ephesians chapter 2. We start reading from verse 19 to verse 22. 1 Corinthians chapter 3, verse 10 to 11. Is it on the screen? According to the grace of God, which was given to me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. Verse 11 says, For no foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Let me read again. According to the grace of God, which was given to me, somebody said, Grace is given to me. Say grace is given to me. Yes, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid. Ephesians chapter 3, chapter 2, verse 19 to 22. Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers. Somebody say, I'm no longer a stranger. Yes, and foreigners, but fellow citizens with with the saints and members of the household of God. Verse 20 says, having been built on the foundation, somebody say, Foundation, foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building being fitted together, grows into a holy temple. Somebody say, Holy temple, holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the spirit. Father, we thank you for your word. Breathe on your word, send your word, let it deliver us from evil, let it deliver us from destruction, let it change us, transform us, make us who you want us to be. In Jesus' name we have prayed. Amen. The person of Christ can be summarized as follows. The person of Christ can be summarized as follows. We can say Jesus Christ was fully God and fully man in one person and will be so forever. If you want to summarize who Jesus is, if somebody asks you who Jesus is from the pages of the scriptures, you can say Jesus Christ was fully God and fully man in one person and will be so forever. How many know that there is a man in heaven right now? Jesus, Jesus asks, just as Jesus is a man in heaven right now. He's a man, that's the that's the only way he can intercede for you. The Bible says we are not, uh we do not have an eye priest who cannot be touched by the feelings of our infirmities because he was in all wise tempted as we are, but he was without sin. The only reason Jesus can make intercession for you is because he knows how you are feeling today. He knows how you are feeling today. You say, we don't have this picture, but you know Jesus used the toilet when he was on earth. Do you know Jesus used the bathroom when he was here? He peed. That's what I'm trying to say. He was fully man, he didn't have a supernatural body, he was fully man when he was here, and in his resurrected state, he is a man. He is a man. So Jesus was fully God and fully man in one person and will be so forever. That is that is the biblical and scriptural revelation of who Jesus is. Bible says in 1 Timothy chapter 3, verse 16, the mystery of godliness. Let's look at this. 1 Timothy chapter 3 and verse 16. Look at what it says, and without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness. God was what manifested in the flesh. Somebody say manifested in the flesh, justified in the spirit, seen by angels, preached among gentiles, believed on in the world, and received up to glory. God was manifested in the flesh. How can God, who created the heavens and the earth, become man? That's the mystery of godliness. That's the mystery of godliness. This is the mystery of godliness. God was manifested in the flesh. Jesus, who is God, becoming man. It's the mystery of godliness. And this man, Jesus, is our cornerstone. This man, Jesus, is what? Is our cornerstone. Isaiah chapter 28, verse 16. Therefore, thus says the Lord God, Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a test that stone, a costly cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed. He who believes in it will not be disturbed. He who believes in it will not be disturbed. Let me pray for somebody right here. You will not be disturbed. I said, You will not be disturbed. Every demonic force disturbing your life, disturbing your family, disturbing your children, disturbing your marriage. I pray, I bind them in the name of Jesus. I declare by the authority of Jesus, you will not be disturbed. In the name of Jesus. Somebody confess, I say, I believe in Jesus, therefore, I will not be disturbed. Say it again. Say, I believe in Jesus, therefore, I will not be disturbed. Yes, he would have he who believes in it, will not be disturbed. Jesus does not want you to be disturbed. He doesn't want your life to be disturbed. It wants you to be at peace, it wants you to be at rest. That disturbance is not from God. It cannot be from God. That perturbation around your life, that's that's that chaos, that disaster is not from God. It cannot be from God. He doesn't want you to be disturbed. Of course, Isaiah's prophecy was fulfilled in Acts chapter 4, verse 11. It was fulfilled in Acts chapter 4, verse 11, where Peter was speaking to the Cyandrins, and he said that this Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has now become the cornerstone. This prophecy was fulfilled in the man Jesus. Peter pointing to it, he said, This Jesus that you rejected, this same Jesus, Acts chapter 4, verse 11. Acts chapter 4, verse 11. This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by the builders, which has become the head of the corner.
SPEAKER_00See, that's why we sing songs like Christ is my firm foundation, the rock on which I stand, if everything around me is shaking. Are you sleeping? Of course, never be glad. I put my faith in Jesus. Oh, you never let me down, faithful through every season. Oh, so why would he fail now?
SPEAKER_01He won. Christ is my firm foundation. Christ is my firm foundation. Now let me explain. We're done. Okay. All right. Let me explain the concept of the cornerstone to us. The concept of the cornerstone. The concept of the cornerstone. You can play on strings very lightly. Concept of the cornerstone. The cornerstone is the principal stone in a building. It is the principal stone in a building. You know, before we started building with all these fancy equipment and all these fancy architectural things, you had to get, if you wanted to build a house back then, you had to get a big stone and chisel it right and cut it and slice it and place it at the corner. And then the weight of the entire structure rests upon the cornerstone. It's the stone that's usually that's usually placed first, from which all the other pieces of the building take their bearings. And once a cornerstone is set, it determines the level, it determines the angle, it determines the outer dimensions of the building, it determines where you want the building to face. How you set the cornerstone. So the architect had to make sure that the first stone was level so that the building would not be crooked. The architect had to make sure so that the cornerstone was leveled so that the building would not be crooked. They spent more time on that cornerstone, making sure that it's right because it provided the basis for the structural integrity and longevity of the building. Are we here? The cornerstone it provided the basis for the structural integrity and the longevity of the building. If the cornerstone is not right, the building will collapse. If the cornerstone is removed, the building will collapse. If the cornerstone is crooked, the building will be crooked. Every other thing was aligned to the cornerstone. And the Bible tells us that Jesus is what is our cornerstone. In this building that God is building, you see, God is building you as a spiritual house, God is building the landmark church as a spiritual house. God is building your life, your family as a spiritual house. The foundation, the cornerstone of it must be Jesus. Everything must take their bearing from it. Everything must take its bearing from it. If you want to avoid collapse, if you want to avoid deviations, if you want to avoid deviations, you must be aligned to the cornerstone. Looking unto Jesus, what does it say? The author and the finisher of our faith. It is as we look to Jesus, it's as we pattern our lives after Jesus, it is as we pattern our lives after him that we'll become the type of building and the type of person that heaven can be proud of. It's as we look and look unto him that will become the kind of person or the kind of people that heaven can be proud of. Not only is Jesus our cornerstone, he is our cornerstone, but what the work of redemption. Somebody said the work of redemption. Yes, the work of redemption is the cornerstone of Christianity. That's the beginning point. The work of redemption is the cornerstone of Christianity. Without it, the building will not stand. Without understanding the work of redemption, the building will not stand. If your understanding of the work of redemption is lopsided, if your understanding of the work of redemption is not solid, it's not intact. Any other thing you try to build on your Christian life will not stand. Any other thing you time to you try to build in terms of spirituality, it will not stand. You can be learning about loving your neighbors, you can be learning about giving, you can be learning about prayer, you can be learning about you know integrity, you can be learning about the believer's authority, you can be learning about all of these great topics, you can be learning about marriage. If your understanding of the work of redemption is not intact, the building will not stand. If your understanding of the work of redemption is not intact, the building will not stand. And for many people, this is this is the crux of the issue. This is the crux of if the foundation is destroyed, what shall the righteous do? This is the crux of the issue. You don't understand redemption. You just said you are you just claimed you're a Christian because you were born in the Christian family, or you just claim you're a Christian because you've been going to church for a long time. This is the crux. You understand the work of redemption. If you don't understand it, the building will not stand. The building will not stand. This is why many of us have experiences that are not consistent with the realities of needing creation. The Bible says in Matthew chapter 18, verse 18, you shall bind when you bind a thing on the on the earth, it will be bound in heaven. When you lose a thing on the earth, it will be loosened in heaven. But for some of us, when we bind something on the earth, it is being loosed in heaven. When you lose something on the earth, it is being bound in heaven. Your experience is contrary to what the Bible promised. Because you don't understand the redemption. You see? You're pleading the blood of Jesus, but you keep wondering why the same blood of Jesus that other people are saying is efficient. Why is it not working for me? You see Matthew 18, 18. That's where it is. So this kingdom operates by light. This kingdom that you are in, that I'm in, operates by light. That's why we need to have an understanding of the work of redemption. We need to have an understanding of the work of redemption. If your knowledge about the work of redemption is not intact and exact, somebody say exact, your faith will be on shaky ground. The work of redemption has so many things that you and I can exploit. It has so many things that you and I can exploit. You can exploit the work of redemption in spiritual warfare, as you will see. You can exploit the work of redemption. You can exploit the work of redemption in many areas. You can exploit it in many areas, but not having the right understanding of the work of redemption prevents you from exploiting the work of redemption as you and I should. I want to quickly continue here. The work of redemption of Christ is broken into four parts. Somebody say four parts. Yes, say four parts. And if you are going to be a proper Christian, you must understand these four things. If you are going to be a proper Christian, we're saying that the work of redemption, Christ is our cornerstone. Are we here? We're talking about the foundations of Jesus Christ. And we're saying that Christ was fully God, fully man, and the mystery of godliness revealed him in the flesh. And this same Christ is our cornerstone. And we're saying, of all the things that you know, Jesus came to do a lot of things on the earth. He came to reveal God to us, he came to be our pattern man, he came to redeem creation, he came to do a lot of things, but he also came to do the work of redemption. And an understanding of the work of redemption is the cornerstone to your solidity as a Christian. Understanding the work of redemption is the cornerstone to your solidity as a work. And we are going to raise solid Christians in this church. I said we are going to raise solid Christians in this church. We are not going to raise flaky Christians. No, we will raise solid Christians, Christians who will burn bright for Jesus in the name of Jesus. So the work of redemption is the cornerstone for your faith. And this work of redemption can be divided into three parts. We'll see how far we can go into four parts. We'll see how far we can go um this morning. And the first part is expiation. Expiation. Somebody say expiation. Expiation. I know is a little bit of a tongue twister. Expiation. Expiation. It's from the word to exp expiate. It's from the word to expiate. Let's look at John chapter 1, verse 29, and see what expiation means. John chapter 1 verse 29. We're going to raise solid Christians in this church. I just feel like you say that again. I said we're going to raise solid Christians in this church. Yes, we're going to raise solid Christians, solid believers, young and old, in this church in the name of Jesus. Yes. Look at what John chapter 1, verse 29 says. It says, The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, Behold, the Lamb of God, who does what? Takes away the sin of the world. Behold the Lamb of God, who does what? Takes away the sin of the world. The Lamp of God who takes away. So expiation means remover. Somebody say remover. Yes. Expiation means what? Remover. It means remover. It means remover. And you see that in the law of Moses, Leviticus chapter 17, verse 11, it says the life of a thing is in his blood. And Hebrews chapter 9, verse 22 tells us that according to the law, almost all things are purified with blood. And without shedding of blood, there is no remission. Without shedding of blood, there is no remission. Hebrews chapter 9, verse 22. So expiation is the remover of sin through the blood. Remover of sin through blood. Remover of sin through the blood. Our sins are taken away. Our sins are taken away. So when you hear things like, um, as far as the east from the west, so far as they removed our transgression from us, Psalm 103, verse 12, that is expiation. As far as the east is from the west, so our iniquities have been taken far away from us. That is that is expiation. That is God exercising his sovereignty and expiate expiating us, uh our sin away from us. Expiation is what brings our forgiveness. Expiation brings our forgiveness, and the instrument with which expiation happens is what? The blood. The blood. Thank you. Somebody's following. The instrument is the blood. The instrument is the blood. God does not forgive sin because he's nice and kind. I don't know if you're hearing what I'm saying. God does not forgive sin because he is nice and is kind. That's not the reason God forgives sin. He forgives sin. You see, God, in fact, spirits don't forgive. Spirits do not forgive. This is why you hear things like even God Himself said, I will visit the iniquity. Iniquity is the record of sin in a bloodline. That's what iniquity is. The record of sin in a particular bloodline. He says, God says, He is what God's speaking. He says, I will visit the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and to the fourth generation. God, spirits don't forgive sins. Spirits don't forgive. It's not in their nature to forgive. Because they don't forget. Spirits don't forgive. So God does not forgive our sins because He's nice and kind. You see? That's why you can still see the effect of the allegiances of some of our great-grandparents. The allegiances they have paid to demons and to all sorts of entities. We can still see those effects in our lives today. Even though you have cried, even though you have begged, even though you have cried about it, you have begged about it, because spirits don't understand the language of sorry. Spirits don't understand that. The reason God forgives is because he is just and he's faithful. Somebody says just and faithful. Yes, God forgives sin because the demand of justice has been met. We're talking the real the real thing at the basis of your faith. Talking about the basis of your faith. He forgives sin because why? The demands of justice has been met. Because God is just and he has to judge sin every time. The forgiveness of sin is because he is faithful to his ordinances. 1 John chapter 1, verse 9. Look at what it says. Let's read it together. Everybody wants to go. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. The reason God forgives is because he is faithful and is just. Just to his ordinances. Just to his ordinances. He is just to his ordinances. He doesn't forgive sin because we're sorry. He forgives sin because of what Christ has done. Somebody say thank you, Jesus. He forgives sin because what? Because of what Christ has done. Yes. He forgives sin because this because of the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Without expiation, our sins will not have expiration date. Without expiation, our sins will not have expiration dates. You see, it is the understanding of this that the understanding of this ought to drive us to depths of worship. An understanding of the fact that my sin has been taken away. The understanding that the iniquity in my bloodline cannot be cannot be placed upon me, that understanding ought to drive us to the place of worship. That the blood of Jesus paid the price for the debt you owed and that you couldn't pay. See, with that expiation, we will all still be bringing bulls and cattle before we approach God. And some of us who have committed so much great thing that the bull you will have to bring, you have to bring glory loads of bulls. Before you can approach God and worship. When you hear people say things like, God, even if you don't do anything in my life again, I will still worship you, I will still pray. It is because they understand the expiation. It is because they understand what has been done for them. When you understand expiation, when you understand that God is faithful, he's just righteous, he's faithful to his ordinances, and he would not repay, he will not ask you to pay for that sin. He has already paid for it. When you understand that, you will worship him. You will worship him. When people say, even if God does not do anything for me and him again, it is because they understand expiation, they understand the work of redemption. They are saying that from a place of understanding that the redemptive work that Christ accomplished is the pinnacle, is everything that I needed. Somebody say amen. Alright, let's see if we can do the second one. Propitiation. So what was the first one? Expiation. And what does expiation mean? Removal of sin by the blood. It's removal of sin, expiation. It removes your sin. And it the instrument is the blood. Now, what is propitiation? Propitiation. Now, listen, you see, the people in the occult and witches understand propitiation. And they use it effectively against believers. So it's better, it's very good that you understand it as well. What is propitiation? What is propitiation? Let us look at a few scriptures. First, let's look at Romans chapter 3, verse 25. Romans chapter 3, verse 25. Whom God set forth as a propitiation by his blood through faith to demonstrate his righteousness because of his forbearance, God had passed over the sins that were previously committed. This is the answer to the question that if anybody asks you, um uh what about the sins that David and all of them committed? How how I mean Jesus had not died then. So, how did God forgive their sins? How come God did not punish them? This is the answer to the question. God has passed over the sins that were why because of his forbearance. God passed over those sins because of his forbearance. Looking at Jesus, that Jesus was going to come and pay the price, so he defied the payment, defied the payment for their sins. The sins of the Old Testament says it defied their payment until Jesus came, Jesus paid the price for everything, the ones that have been done in the past, the ones that would be done in the future. This is the answer to the question. Look at because of his forbearance, God did what he passed over the sins that were previously committed. Let's look at another Bible verse. 1 John chapter 2, verse 1 to 2. 1st John chapter 2, verse 1 to 2. My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And he himself is the propitiation. Somebody say propitiation. Propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the what? The whole world. Not for ours only, but for the sins of the old world. Propitiation. Let's look at another one. First John chapter 4, verse 10. First John chapter 4, verse 10. Let's read this one together. One, two, go. Whom God set forth as a propitiation by his blood, through faith, to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance, God had passed over the pre that we have previously committed. This is first John chapter 4, verse 10. I'm looking for in this, in this is love. Not that we love God, but that he loved us and sent his son to be the propitiation for our sins. That's what I'm looking for. First John chapter 4, verse 10. One to go. Did you find it? 1 John 4 10. 1 John 4 10. Thank you, Jesus. Alright, everybody, want to go. Not that we love God. Uh-huh. And sent him to be the propitiation for our sins. He sent him to be the propitiation. Now, what is propitiation? Propitiation is turning away the anger of spirits through appeasement with a sacrifice. Propation is turning away the anger of spirits through appeasement with what? A sacrifice. It is turning away the anger of spirits through appeasement with the sacrifice. And it's not just any kind of sacrifice, it must be a gruesome sacrifice. It is not just any type of sacrifice, it must be what? A gruesome sacrifice. Must be a gruesome sacrifice. You remember the story of the king in 2 Kings chapter 3, verse 26 to 27. When the king of Moab saw that the battle was too fierce for him. When the king of Moab saw that the battle was too fierce for him, he took with him 700 men who drew swords to break to break through the king of Edom, but they could not. Then he took his older son, who was to reign in his place, and offered him as a bond offering on the wall. And there came great wrath, great indignation against Israel, and they had departed from him and turned and returned to their own land. 2 Kings 3, verse 26 to 27. It is not just any type of sacrifice that turns away the wrath of a spirit, it has to be a gruesome sacrifice. It has to be what? A gruesome sacrifice. This is why the Bible says in Isaiah chapter 52, verse 14. Isaiah 52, verse 14, talking about the visit of Jesus. He said, His visage was mad so that he didn't look like a man. He didn't look like a man. His face was so disfigured. NLT of Isaiah 52, verse 14. He says, His face was so disfigured and he seemed hardly human. And from his appearance, one would scarcely know it was a man. Talking about the pain and the suffering that Jesus went through. That is, the sacrifice that will turn the anger of spirit has to be a gruesome sacrifice. Are you hearing what I'm saying? Yes, it has to be a gruesome sacrifice. So some some of us uh we want to pity Jesus. Ah, Jesus suffered though. Oh, I can't believe how much they beat him, how much he suffered. Ah, 49 or 39 stripes. Ah, that was too much. Why didn't they stop at five? Hey, you you better be thankful that you it was gruesome. If it was not gruesome, it will not meet the demands of justice. If it was not gruesome, it would not be a propitiation for our sins. It had to be gruesome, it had to be gruesome. And when we think about the sacrifice of Jesus, it does not want our pity. Jesus does not want your pity. The only reasonable to the work of redemption, the only reasonable response to the work of redemption is what? Gratitude and worship. Gratitude and worship. Gratitude and worship. That's the only reasonable response. Sacrifice can turn away wrath. If you don't understand and regularly practice sacrifice, you cannot touch anything meaningful in the spiritual realm. If you don't understand and regularly practice sacrifice, you cannot touch anything meaningful in the spirit realm. I hope you're hearing what I'm saying. If you don't practice sacrifice, sacrificing your time, sacrificing your money, sacrificing your convenience, sacrificing yourself, sacrificing sleep, sacrificing food. You cannot be much in God's hands. You cannot advance, you cannot make progress on the path of your spiritual journey. Sacrifice. Sacrifice. Sacrifice is the language of spirits. Christianity must first be sacrificial before it can be beneficial. Christianity must what? It must first be sacrificial before it can be beneficial. If you are always interested in the benefit, the benefit, the benefit, you're not thinking sacrifice. You are a baby. And trust me, I know how babies have because I have two of them. Well, I have a toddler and a five-year-old that is no longer a toddler, they tell me. But it's only children that are only thinking about benefits. They only want to see the benefits. They don't have a picture, they don't have an understanding or care about the sacrifice that is needed. And Christianity, what you have come to embrace, it must first be sacrificial. Because that's how your faith, your faith was founded. Your faith was founded on the on the wings of sacrifice. The faith you embrace was founded on the on the wings of sacrifice. Christianity must first be sacrificial, sacrificing yourself, sacrificing your time, sacrificing your convenience, sacrificing things that are that your flesh doesn't want you to sacrifice. It must first be sacrificial before it can be beneficial. You know? So we don't come to God because of what we can get from him. We don't come to God for because of what we can get from. We come to God for what we can give to him. See, we come to God for how we can lay ourselves on the altar of sacrifice. That's why we come to God. That's why we come to God. Propitiation takes away the wrath of God. Takes away the wrath of God. It turns away the wrath of God. And the bottom line of propitiation is what? That's the bottom line. The bottom line of propitiation is what? Is no longer angry with what? With you and I. God is no longer angry with you and I. I need to begin to wrap wrap up now. I need to begin to wrap up. God is the father of spirits, and since he is no longer angry with you, no other spirit has the right to be angry with you. I'm not talking application. I want to show us the application of what I've been saying. God is the father of spirits, and because the father of spirit is no longer angry with you, no other spirit has the right to be angry with you. You know, I have a brother, an older brother. Say myself and my brother, we are having a tussle, and he's not happy with me, and he's, I mean, we're just not just happy with me, and you know, he's angry with me, and then my my dad comes in. Let's say my dad comes in into the room and and he asks my brother, so what's going on? And then he explains the issue to him. And my dad just says, Forget about it, don't worry about it. Do you think he will continue to be angry with me? Should he continue to be angry with me?
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_01He shouldn't. Why? Because the father has said, forget about it. If he continues to be angry with me, that anger is illegal. He can even be punished. The same way, God is the father of spirit, and every other, every lesser spirit, every every lesser spirit, they don't have the right to be angry with you because the father of spirit is no longer no longer angry with you. Somebody say amen to that. Yes, the father of spirit is no longer angry with you, therefore, any lesser spirit, witches, demons, warlocks, sorcerers, they have no right to be angry with you because God, the father of spirit, is not angry with you. Propitiation is what? Is that which appeases the anger and brings reconciliation with someone who has reason to be angry with you. Propitiation is that which appeases anger. So propitiation has to appease anger. And we're saying that that method by which it appeases the anger is by sacrifice, and that sacrifice must be a gruesome sacrifice. So propitiation is that which appeases anger and brings reconciliation with someone who has a reason to be angry with you. The wrath of God is satisfied. Somebody said the wrath of God is satisfied.
SPEAKER_00The wrath of God is satisfied.
SPEAKER_01Yes, the wrath of God is satisfied. So you can take this to the bank. Somebody said they are angry with you, or you sense that there is a there is a warfare or there is contention over something that belongs to you, and somebody is angry about something. You can take this to the bank. Jesus is my propitiation. Jesus has turned away the wrath of God. Therefore, anybody who is angry with me, their anger is illegal. Their anger is illegal. This is why Joseph could not be killed in Egypt. This is why Joseph, nothing could kill Joseph in Egypt. Why? I don't know if you have thought about this. If you have thought about this, how can somebody whose wife accused a slave of trying to sleep with her? Is the is the chief of the gardel, sends him to prison and makes him the chief of the prisoners? I mean, if someone accuses, you know, in Egypt, someone accuses a slave of trying to sleep with their wife. The next thing is, is it that's a death sentence? That's a death sentence. But for Joseph, they sent him to prison. Is it that Potiphar knew that this woman, her trouble is too much? And that's how maybe she has lied like that to someone before. That's the only reason that I think that Potiphar can just send him to the prison without killing him. But anyway, maybe there was something deeper happening too to Joseph. Why he couldn't have been killed in Egypt. Something deeper is was happening to Joseph there. You remember when his brother sold him to slavery? Remember what happened? They killed an innocent lamb and put it on his clothes. And Jacob, Joseph's father, made an important statement. He made an important statement. He says, without doubt, when he saw the clothes, the blood on the on the clothes of Joseph, he said, without doubt, Joseph is torn to pieces. He said, Without doubt, Joseph has been torn to pieces. That lamb had died a gruesome death and taking the place of Joseph. So in the eyes of Jacob, the father of Joseph, Joseph had died. And you cannot kill a dead man twice. He had already died. That lamb had taken his place. The same way you, God, Jesus, has taken your place. The Bible says in Colossians chapter 3, verse 3, for you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. No matter what I face in this land, no matter what the enemy throws at me, I will not die in this land. That was Joseph's testimony. No matter what the enemy threw at him, because he had already died, there was no way he could die again. No matter what the enemy threw at him, he had already died. So there was no way he could die again. Galatians chapter 2 verse 20. I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who lives, but Christ lives in me. Galatians chapter 2, verse 20. And the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me. Can we be on our feet and begin to thank God for Jesus and say, Lord, I thank you for being my propitiation. Thank you for being my propitiation. Thank you for turning away the wrath of God over my life. Thank you for this new life that I have, this in indestructible life that I have. Thank you. Thank you, Lord. Thank you for being my propitiation.
